Social Souls

Monday: Going Out group

We visit local museums and attractions, go shopping, bowling and on day trips chosen by Social Soul members. Bus passes and entrance/activity fees are extra.  

Tuesday: Work/Life experience

We work alongside staff and community groups based at The Haven Community Centre. Social Souls members are supported in work related activities such as ground maintenance, gardening, setting up toys and activities for ‘Super tots’, helping and working alongside food bank staff, and hosting, waiting and serving in the monthly Social Souls café. 

 

Wednesday: Walking group

A walking day in various local locations chosen by Social Souls members, walks are often 2- 4 miles in distance. We visit a café after the walk for a well-earned drink and cake. Bus passes and money for the café visit is required. 

 

Wednesday: Small Group Outings

A small group go out and about in a safe and supported group to various locations chosen by Social Souls members. Bus passes and entrance/activity fees are extra.

Thursday: Ambling group

Slow paced walks in various locations; these walks are designed especially for Social Soul members who may have some mild mobility problems but enjoy being outdoors and benefit from light exercise. We visit a café after the walk for a well-earned drink and cake. Bus passes and money for the café visit is required.

Thursday: Cooking/Healthy Lifestyle

Learning about healthy diet choices, using recipe books, cook meals, shop for ingredients, and understand home health and safety. Additionally, engaging in meal planning, cleaning, organising, using kitchen tools, and developing socialising and teamwork skills.

Friday: Leisure and Social Activities

A diverse range of activities are available every Friday.  These range from small group outings, shopping, drama, yoga, sports, games, crafts, pampering (hair and nails), swimming, films and cinema visits, an afternoon café hosted by Social Soul members and ending the day with a disco.
